1. Introduction
Break Me Down (BMD) is a datapack that allows you to revert some recipes and craft some blocks into their ingredients. It’s useful to store more resources in a compact way. If some ingredients can be crafted into a block, this datapack allows you to craft those blocks back into ingredients.
2. Compatibility
At the moment datapack is compatible with Vanilla Minecraft on versions from 1.20 to 1.21.5. If you want me to add support for newer game versions or some Fabric mod, please inform me on the Support Discord.
3. Downloading and Installation
You can download this datapack from Modrinth.
After downloading BMD, please follow the standard Datapack installation guide in order to install it on your Minecraft world or server.
4. Recipes added by “Break Me Down”
BMD add in total 17 new recipes that allows you to break down blocks into their ingredients. Below, you will find all of them.
4.1. Amethyst shard
Using this recipe is required in order to get the advancement [Break that crystal!]
4.2. Wool into string
You can use any type of wool in this recipe.
4.3. Clay ball
Using this recipe is required in order to get the advancement [Made a ball from a cube]
4.4. Melon slice
Using this recipe is required in order to get the advancement [Slicing melons]
4.5. Glowstone dust
Using this recipe is required in order to get the advancement [Shiny dust]
4.6. Brick
Using this recipe is one of the requirements to get the advancement [Brick by brick]
4.7. Nether brick
Using this recipe is one of the requirements to get the advancement [Brick by brick]
4.8. Prismarine shard
4.9. Copper ingot from lightning rod
4.10. Nether quartz
Using this recipe is required in order to get the advancement [Quartz shattering]
4.11. Honeycomb
4.12. Cobweb into string
4.13. Magma cream
Using this recipe is required in order to get the advancement [Fiery cream]
4.14. Nether wart
Using this recipe is required in order to get the advancement [Is it for potions?]
4.15. Packed ice
Using this recipe is one of the requirements to get the advancement [Crushed ice]
4.16. Ice
Using this recipe is one of the requirements to get the advancement [Crushed ice]
4.17. Resin bricks
Only in 1.21.4 and above!
Using this recipe is one of the requirements to get the advancement [Brick by brick]
5. Advancements added by “Break Me Down”
BMD adds in total 11 new advancements, 2 of which are granted to player after installing the datapack and are meant to be a way of categorizing the rest of advancements. The other 9 advancements can be acquired by using recipes introduced by this datapack. Below you will find complete list of all advancements.
5.1. Break me down!
This is the root of the BMD’s Advancement tree. This advancement is granted to the player when the datapack is installed. It’s purpose is to be a “parent” of all the other advancements. This advancement doesn’t give any reward after granting, doesn’t announce to chat or show toast notification.
5.2. Brick by brick
Parent: Break me down!
To get this advancement you have to craft bricks, resin bricks or nether bricks using recipes added by this datapack.
After granting, it gives player 5 experience points as the reward.
5.3. Crushed ice
Parent: Break me down!
To get this advancement you have to craft packed ice or ice using recipes added by this datapack.
After granting, it gives player 10 experience points as the reward.
5.4. Slicing melons
Parent: Break me down!
To get this advancement you have to craft melon slice using the recipe added by this datapack.
After granting, it gives player 5 experience points as the reward.
5.5. Made a ball from a cube
Parent: Break me down!
To get this advancement you have to craft clay ball using recipe the added by this datapack.
After granting, it gives player 5 experience points as the reward.
5.6. Break that crystal!
Parent: Break me down!
To get this advancement you have to craft amethyst shard using the recipe added by this datapack.
After granting, it gives player 10 experience points as the reward.
5.7. Break down the nether
Parent: Break me down!
This advancement is granted to the player when the datapack is installed and it’s purpose is to be a “parent” of other advancements dedicated to nether blocks. This advancement doesn’t give any reward after granting, doesn’t announce to chat or show toast notification.
5.8. Is it for potions?
Parent: Break down the nether
To get this advancement you have to craft nether wart using the recipe added by this datapack.
After granting, it gives player 10 experience points as the reward.
5.9. Fiery cream
Parent: Break down the nether
To get this advancement you have to craft magma cream using the recipe added by this datapack.
After granting, it gives player 10 experience points as the reward.
5.10. Shiny dust

To get this advancement you have to craft glowstone dust using the recipe added by this datapack.
After granting, it gives player 10 experience points as the reward.
5.11. Quartz shattering

To get this advancement you have to craft nether quartz using the recipe added by this datapack.
