§1 Terms used in this document
- User – person that visits the website and interacts with its content.
- Website – entirety of Syhmac’s Den website and all of its sub-websites and sub-domains.
- Avatar – picture that user assigns to their account or adds to their comment to identify themselves and be unique.
§2 Who are we?
We are working on the website under this URL: https://syhmac.pl/ and all its sub-domains.
§3 What data do we store, for how long and why?
§3.1 Comments
When the user leaves a comment on the website, we are collecting all the data provided the user in the comment form (their nickname, content of the comment, avatar, email, date of publishing. IP address and unique browser signature).
IP address and browser signature is being collected to identify user’s computer and protect the website from the spam comments if user’s intents are malicious.
Those information are being stored for an indefinite period of time and being used for future automatic comment approval once user is being approved.
Anonymous text generated from user’s email address (also called hash) is being sent to the Gravatar service in order to determine whether the user is registered there.

After user’s comment is approved, their avatar from the Gravatar service is being displayed on the website.
§3.2 Media
If user is registered on our website, they should not upload any pictures with EXIF location tags. Other users will be able to download the picture from our website and check its location data.
§3.3 Contact forms
We store every contact form and information that user included in them. This data is only available to website administrators.
§3.4 Cookies
§3.4.1 When leaving the comment
When user is leaving the comment we are saving their nickname, email and user’s website in the cookies if user decided to save those information for the future. Those cookies expire within a year.
§3.4.2 When visiting the login page
When user is visiting the login page, we are creating a temporary cookie to determine whether user’s browser is allowing for cookies. This cookie doesn’t store any personal information and is being deleted after the browser is closed by the user.
§3.4.3 When logging in
When user is logging in, we are creating few cookies. We need them to save user’s login information and chosen on the screen options. Login information is being deleted after 2 days. Additional options are being deleted after 6 months.
If user chooses the option “Remember me” the login data is being deleted after 2 weeks.
If user manually logs out, the login data is being deleted right away.
§3.4.4 Posting and editing articles
When user is posting or editing the article we are creating a cookie. This cookie doesn’t contain any personal information and is meant to store the identification token of posted or edited article. Cookie expires withing 1 day.
§3.4.5 Third-party cookies
Third-party services, including Google, are using cookies to display targeted ads on our website or other websites.
Cookies allow Google and their partners to display targeted ads based on the user’s activity on our website or other websites.
User can opt-out from personalized (targeted) ads in the ads settings. User can opt-out from using the cookies for personalized ads on Google’s My Ad Centre.
§3.5 Embedded content from different websites
Articles on our website may include embedded content from third-party websites (e.g. videos, pictures, other articles etc.). Embedded content from those websites behave the same way, they would if user would visit those websites by themselves.
Third-party websites can collect your data, use cookies and trackers, and monitor users interactions with embedded content whether the user is logged on the third-party website or not.
§3.6 Login information
When user is trying to log in into the website, we collect the needed cookies (as mentioned in §3.4.3) as well as their IP address. We are storing the IP for the undefined amount of time. It’s purpose is to protect the website and its users from malicious attacks by blocking the IP’s that try to brute force other user’s password or be malicious in any other way. This information is accessible only by the website administrators.
§3.7 Newsletter
When user decide to enroll for our newsletter, we store the following data provided by the user in the form: email address, IP address and their first name or nickname. This information is accessible only by the website administrators.
§3.8 Registered users
If user decides to register on our website we store all the data provided in the account creation form and any future personal information that user decides to provide on their profile.
User can view, edit and delete those information at any time, with the exception of their username, which cannot be changed.
Website administration can view and modify user’s data at any time.
This data is being stored as long, as user has an account on our website. This data is being deleted if user deletes their account or their account is being deleted by the administration.
§4 Analytics
Data such as the number of visits, user’s country and visits through the Google are being sent and analyzed by Google to create statistics. Those statistics – on our end – can only be viewed by the website administrators.
Data such as user activity on the website is being shared with Microsoft to investigate User Experience issues and improving the website. Those information is fully anonymous and there is no way to identify and locate users. This data – on our end – can only be viewed by the website administrators.
§5 User’s rights
If the user has an account or they left the comment on our website, they can request a file with their personal data we own. User can also request to remove a part or entirety of their data. It excludes any data that we are required to keep for the administrative, legal or security reasons.
§6 Where do we send user’s data
We send data needed for analytics to Google and Microsoft (as mentioned in §4).
We may send user’s data from §3.1 (comments) to third-party “anti spam” services, although in most cases we use local systems to detect and remove spam comments or bots.
§7 Additional information
§7.1 How we are protecting user data?
We care about user’s privacy. Every information on the website is accessible only to administrators. Third-party services mentioned in this document have access only to the data mentioned in previous sections.
§7.2 What third-party services send data to us?
We are acquiring analytics data from Google and Microsoft.
