1. Introduction
Universal Enchantment Splitter (UES) is a datapack that allows you to split enchanted books into two as well as remove enchantments from any item and put it on the enchanted book. This way you can get rid of unwanted enchantments or split the book if you want enchantments from one book on the different items.
This datapack will work even with the enchantments levels higher than vanilla ones. That means that it will work on servers and world that allows enchantment levels up to 255.
2. Compatibility
At the moment (July 3rd 2025) datapack is compatible with Vanilla and Modded Minecraft on versions from 1.21 to 1.21.7. If you want me to add support for newer game versions, check if there is a release for them on Modrinth, and inform me on the Support Discord there’s none.
This datapack only works with the Vanilla enchantments. If you want support for enchantments from Fabric Mods, please contact me on the Support Discord.
3. Downloading and Installation
You can download this datapack from Modrinth.
After downloading UES, please follow the standard Datapack installation guide to install it on your Minecraft world or server.
4. Using Universal Enchantment Splitter
You can use this datapack in two ways. For both, you will need a single chest with 3 first slots empty and the item you want to remove or extract the enchantments from.
4.1. Splitting the enchanted book
To extract one enchantment from the enchanted book, place it in the 1st slot of a single chest and leave 2nd and 3rd slots empty. Next, stand on the chest an run /trigger split_enchantments command.
This function will extract the first – in alphabetical order – enchantment and move it to a new book on the 2nd slot. On the 4rd slot, you will find your original book without the extracted enchantment.
If you run this function with a book that only has one enchantment you will get it back without any changes.
4.2. Removing enchantments from an item
To remove all enchantments from any item, place it in the 1st slot of a single chest and leave 2nd and 3rd slots empty. Next, stand on the chest and run /trigger remove_enchantments command. This function will remove all the enchantments from your item, as well as reset the repair cost in the anvil.
On the 2nd slot you will find your item without any enchantments and on the 3rd slot you will find an enchanted book with all enchantments from the item.
